Kathleen Eriksen

Daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, servant of Christ, friend. Kathleen (Cathie) represented each of these roles with good nature, generosity, and faithful devotion to her family and to God.

Cathie was raised in North Muskegon where she attended high school. She worked briefly as a draftsperson before turning her focus to starting a family. She married Eddy Eriksen while he was in the Air Force, and she and Ed were married for 59 years.

Cathie and Ed started their family in 1969 with their first child, Brion Niels; then were blessed with twins Darin Ray and Daryl Lee in 1971. They purchased their lifetime home in Wyoming, Michigan, and a few years later, the Eriksens joined Unity Reformed Church in Kentwood, Michigan. Cathie proudly embodied and shared her Christian faith and fulfillment from the Church’s teachings throughout her life.

Cathie was, above all things, a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Being a talented artist, she nurtured Brion, Darin, and Daryl in their creativity, providing them with supplies, desks, and space to draw, and specialized classes and camps. All three boys chose and earned college degrees related to communications.

In addition to her influence on her children’s curiosity and talents, Cathie’s unwavering focus on family guided and inspired her sons in building their own families.

Cathie is survived by Brion and his wife, Paula, and their sons Ethan and Dawson; Darin and his wife, Susan; and Daryl and his wife, Maureen, and their twin daughters Kara and Elyse. All were precious to her, and all a great source of pride.

Cathie is preceded in death by her husband, who passed in 2024; her elder siblings: brother, Martin and sister, Carol; and father, Walter and mother, Luella. She is survived by her younger brother, Dennis.
