Born in 1937, to Everett and Vera LaChappelle, Ruth was strong and independent from the start. She attended Godwin High School in Wyoming, MI. During her senior year of high school, she met the young man who would be the love of her life and husband of 68 years. For the next 26 years she would follow him around the world supporting him in his Air Force career. In that time, she was blessed to raise three children. She loved her time working in the arts and crafts center in Minot AFB, ND. There, she learned and mastered many skills in crafts and fostered lifelong friendships. She enjoyed camping with her husband, friends, and family. After Minot, Ruth Anne and Gene moved to Caledonia. It was here that she attended Lakeside Community Church through the women’s Bible study. In her lifetime, she defeated breast cancer twice and survived lung cancer.
Ruth Anne is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph; and sister, Vesta. She is survived by her loving husband, Gene; three children Gene Jr., Kenny, and Deanne (Mark); grandchildren Austin, Karissa, Curtis, and twins Alex and Garrett; niece, Debbie (Jim); and sisters-in-law Darlene (Jim) and Ruth Ellen.
