The Cerny family has truly blessed the Waterloo region with their passion for life, family and giving their friends and community a place to experience the finest of dining. It was such a pleasure knowing Alec throughout the years, a kind and soft-spoken man.
  
Alec, and brother John, created a most elegant and memorable wedding for my daughter and son-in-law! A day we will never forget!  

Not to mention a few outstanding staff Christmas parties that he and his amazing staff provided us. Not a detail was missed!

I recently hosted a surprize birthday party for my wife in the private room at the Blackshop.  
Alec made sure all of the details were perfect from fine wine to great food, a beautiful birthday cake and a jazz band to dance to.  It will be a night she will forever remember.  
My wife and I have followed Alec from their location on Ainslie Street to Hobson and finally to Hespeler Road.  We loved to chat with him about fine wines and to hear all about his family vacations.   
Alec was such a wonderful host and will be forever missed.

Alec was so much to so many people; 
He was a son who so intensely loved his parents.
His best friend who he cherished unconditionally every minute was his brother. 
He was a husband who was deeply in love. 
He was a dad who never said no, he wanted only to give the world to his boys. 
He was not an employer… he was a mentor, at times a councillor, a teacher, and most importantly a friend. It was his belief that a business is built on a foundation of family and team values. He wanted to know everyone personally making sure he could help where and when needed. He involved himself in every detail and focused infinitely on opportunities for improvement. He was a restaurateur who was driven by the highest standard of customer service without regard to the cost - Customers must be embraced, filled with warmth and kindness, and feel at home.
He was a proud member of his community; very excited about the people and any new changes. He endlessly donated and supported organizations and always helped those in need.
I've outlined to you Alec as a person - not one description or characteristic defined him from a personal interest perspective. Why? Because there was no bucket list item that was about indulgence and his needs. Those were always moved aside. 
The highest order of giving – “is” self-sacrifice and selfless actions. To give when you can't any longer; to give when you don't have and it truly hurts. …To give when you're exhausted. To hold the hand of another in need when in-fact you need to be held.  …Caring for others when you need the most care of all.
Love is giving
and it gives all
love surrenders
and it surrenders all that love has, 
love bares its body 
And love for love takes the body….
the test is when everything is given and nothing is left
And if the others remain, having taken all
….that i think is what love is all about
I leave you with 2 words to describe Alec ‘s life – Unconditional LOVE.

Ales visited our island on Lake Nipissing a few times a year and we will sincerely miss him. He was always nice, good to talk to and a real connoisseur of wine. His passing at such young age came to a shock to everyone.
