Anne was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, sister, and friend.
Anne shared a beautiful marriage of 57 years with her loving husband, Bill. Together they built a life filled with laughter, family traditions, and unwavering support for one another.
She was a proud and caring mom to Carol (Jason Ireton) and Michael (Wanda Burgess), and an especially devoted grandma to Caitlin, Owen, Clayton, and Sydney. Nothing brought Anne more joy than watching her grandchildren grow and cheering them on at their sports and activities.
Anne was predeceased by her parents, Creighton and Margaret Murdoch of Kitchener, in-laws Stirling and Erma Burgess of Galt, sister Nonnie and brother in-law Turk of Ayr, sister in-law Betty and brother in-law Bub of Carluke and brother in-law Ted of Toronto. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Jim and Seanagh of Cavan, along with five nieces and one nephew (predeceased) and many extended family members and friends.
Anne found happiness in the simple and meaningful things in life. She enjoyed growing up with her many cousins and spending time in Northern Ontario and at the family farm. She also cherished time spent with her large circles of friends, including the Hespeler Oldtimers hockey and slo-pitch teams.
A compassionate and dedicated nurse at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Anne devoted her career to caring for others with kindness and professionalism. She began in paediatrics, stepped away to focus on raising her children, and later returned to work in long-term care until her retirement.
She loved shopping, baking, knitting, sewing, and travelling. She had a special place in her heart for animals and treasured every family gathering. Anne was a devoted fan of the Blue Jays and looked forward to each baseball season. Above all, Christmas was her favourite time of year — a season she filled with warmth, traditions, and love for everyone around her.
Anne will be remembered for her kindness, her creativity, her love of family, and the warmth she brought to every room. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held for Anne on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Anne's memory would be gratefully appreciated to the Cambridge & District Humane Society.
