My uncle Armando, my Godfather...a man that has been part of my entire life and has always had a special place in my heart. In the last few days, many of the memories I have of my uncle have come alive. They have brought moments of joy into these sad days of his passing.

As the first niece on the Cabral side, I was showered with love and attention as a child. As an adult, this bonding of love was ever-present at every encounter. His words of encouragement towards any of my endeavours and his appreciation for having the "Cabral" roots within me were always spoken with pride.

He really was proud of the "Cabral" name. In one of my visits with him later in life, he showed and briefed me on many of his ancestors. He was always so happy to mention that they had held high ranking positions as doctors, judges, lawyers, journalists and so on.

Tio Armando had an appreciation for intelligence. He was an extremely intelligent man. He pursued his many interests and projects with determination and success.

He will be missed by all his family but his legacy will go on through all of his loved ones.

Love you forever, Tio Armando.

My Avo was a simple man, he never needed much. He was always focused on what he could do for his family and making sure that they were well taken care of. He was a strong man my Avo, he never got pushed around by anyone that's for sure. I remember throughout my life he always had a smile on his face as family entered the room. He could have lived like a rockstar if he wanted to but he was always focused on making sure his family was taken care of. I know this isn't one singular memory but I have too many to limit myself to 1. I'll leave you with this, some people leave this world alone because of their actions but my Grandfather left this world surrounded by every member of his family in the middle of a weekday. I hope he can find solace in knowing that he was our number one priority and there is no where we would have rather been than at his side in his time of passing. To everyone that brought even the slightest bit of joy to my Avos life, I thank you and I hope you can come to pay your respects.

One of my favorite memories of my grandfather was when we were at his vacation home together in Dominican. He was always so happy and relaxed there. He loved being there. I'm so happy I got to be there with him at least once and experience some great memories with him.
