

Passed away peacefully at Fairview Mennonite Home on April 22, in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Norman Shantz (Mar. 1/12) for 67 years. Mother of Jim (Lorraine), Richard, Ruth Lawrence (Bruce), Ed (Diane), Kathy Shantz (Reg Good), Robert (Judy). Lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Survived by sister, Helen Burkholder (Joe), brother Bruce Witmer (Pat) and sister-in-law Mary Witmer. Predeceased by brother Stewart Witmer,sister-in-law Joyce Witmer, brother-in-law Gordon Shantz (Elizabeth) and sister-in-law Irene Kinzie (Elton). Born in Preston and after her marriage to Norman moved to the Shantz homestead near Black Horse Corners, Ayr. Longtime faithful member of Nith Valley Mennonite Church, New Hamburg. Was dedicated to her family, church and community and was known for her love of quilting, cross-stitching, baking and volunteering. Family and friends will be received at Fairview Mennonite Home, 515 Langs Drive, Cambridge on Thursday April 26, 2012 from 7-9P.M. and Friday April 27, 2012 from 10 A. M. until service time at 11 A. M. Committal at Detweiler Cemetery, Roseville. The family wishes to thank the staff at Fairview for their caring and compassion.
