Bernice was a gentle, caring, and family-oriented person. You could count on her to keep the family traditions going, from holidays to Sunday dinners, where you’d find meat, potatoes, and vegetables served with pie and ice cream for dessert. Bernice loved to listen to music, particularly her favourite records on the big hi-fi and the radio, set to 1010 AM of course. Her favourite movie was South Pacific, and she loved attending musicals at the theatre, especially the Ed Mervish theatre on special occasions. Before the Yorkdale Mall opened, Bernice would shop at the two best stores in downtown Toronto: Robert Simpson Company and the Eatons Department Store. Bernice and Wally travelled coast to coast across America, from New York to Montana and Wyoming, and even visited Hawaii, but Bernice was also known for saying “see your own country first.” One of her most memorable trips will always be the family train adventure from Toronto to Vancouver in 1958. Bernice will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her son Robert (Joyce) Fraser, daughter Lynda Fraser, grandchildren Deborah (Bill (d.)) Ingraham, Erin (Blair) Matthews, Kent (Christine) Fraser, great-grandchildren Mackenzie Fraser, Noah Fraser, and Carter Matthews, nephews Jim (Cheryl) Topping and Tim (Nancy) Topping, and her cousins Joan (Tom (d.)) Boydell and Don (Iris) Cronyn. Bernice was predeceased by her husband Walter George Fraser, sister Helen (Sam) Topping, and her parents Hazel and James LeDrew. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family graveside service will be held on Friday, April 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Queen’s Square Terrace and St. Luke’s Place, both in Cambridge, for the wonderful care and compassion they showed to Bernice during her lifetime. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke’s Place.
