Passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 8th, with her beloved son James and daughter-in-law Julie by her side. A lifelong resident of Cambridge, Edith was born in Preston on November 27, 1926 to a large and loving Ukrainian family. She was a feisty, humorous, generous and loving soul who will be missed by many, and is also survived by her adored grandsons Jimmy (Crystal), and Steve (Ashleigh), precious great-grandsons Jacob and Reed, cherished sisters Helen Schultz, and Nina Moss, niece Karen Moss, with whom she shared a very special bond, and many other much-loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Tony and Rose Kopey, sisters Vicky Gadd and Marion Murray, and brothers Ed and Joey.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff in the Blair Unit at Hilltop Manor who took care of Edith; we cannot even begin to properly express our gratitude for the tenderness and love you showed her, and us -- especially during her final days.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the T. Little Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 223 Main Street, Cambridge (519-623-1290) on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 2 – 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Canadian Mental Health Association.
I AM FREE
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
To follow the path God made for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To love, to laugh, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
For I found peace at last, that day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembering joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with hearts of sorrow.
My wish for you is the hope of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I’ve savored much,
Good friends, good times,
a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed much too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wants me now --- He’s set me free.
