It was with great sadness that I heard of the passing of Eddie McGill. I first met him when he was working at Hancock Foods on King street in Preston. Years later I met him again  through good friends, the Chinn family. Ed was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humor 
It's with deepest sympathy that I send my condolences to his family and friends

Always a smile, a hug and a joke. You always did so much to help others. Thank you for all you did for mom, Aunt Shirley, Edie and many others. We will miss you at all the get togethers, along with  the Christmas nights at moms. All of your old stories, memories and jokes. Uncle Eddie we love you and will miss you always. Rest In Peace with the others in heaven.

Ed was a wonderful caring gentleman. Many years ago he was myearly morning bus driver. I laugh to remeber how I would inevitably fall asleep on my way to work. He would tell me to wake up as we approached my stop. He always told me to have a good day now , dear !

Later in years when I had a different job. He  recognized me! After that he always made a special point to say hello and ask how I was doing. 

He confided in me how heart breaking it was when Beryl died in his arms. He truly loved her.

Just like all others who were priveledged to know him- I will miss him.

My  thoughts to all of Uncle Eddie's family and friends. You and Beryl were my mom and dad's friends and were just like an aunt and uncle to all us Chinn girls. There are so many great memories with you at your trailer, your house and  mom and dad's house.You were a great friend to dad and recently I was able to see you when you would come in to the store and we would have our little chats. Really going to miss your great big smile and your sense of humor. Rest in peace Uncle Eddie. xo

We are going to miss you so much! You always had such a presence about you; you would light up any room you entered! Your constant smiles and great big hugs were some of my favourite things about you! 
Anyone that met you couldn't help but love you! 
I was sad I didn't have a chance to see you one last time, but I will forever cherish all of the memories and good times!

Bill, Tammy and all of Uncle Eddie's family, my deepest condolences on the loss of such a wonderful man.  I have know Uncle Eddie since I was a little girl and he was a great friend to our family.  There was never a time when he wasn't smiling, sharing a joke or giving us one of his great hugs.  I have many memories of him over the years and one that sticks out and really showed his great sense of humor was when a fellow bus driver had passed away many, many years ago.  His name escapes me right now but he was well over six feet tall.  I rode on this gentlemen's bus every day and wanted to pay my respects and so I attended his funeral.  I ended up sitting next to Uncle Eddie and he poked me in the side, with his elbow, and said.  "What do you think they did to fit him in that casket?"  He was a good friend to my dad, Ray, and he visited him a lot.  When I called Uncle Eddie, the day my dad was dying, and I told him that dad was asking for him, he came straight up to the hospital and held dad's hand and told him how much he loved him.  His support for us on that day and the day of dad's funeral will never be forgotten.  Rest in peace Uncle Eddie!  Heaven has gained another Angel. XOXO

I was saddened to hear the news today of the passing of Eddy who was such an important part of our family growing up. We considered him an uncle just like Beryl was our aunt.  The two of them were true friends of my mom and dad.  I was lucky enough to spend time with them at their trailer at Hillside Park as a little girl as well as our family often had visits either at their home or ours on Norfolk Ave. 

Rest in peace Eddy. Thank you for all the years of friendship and warmth shown to me and our family.  Love you and it looks like heaven got itself another angel.  xoxo

What a great man—Eddie was such a kind and tender man and loved my Grandma.  They had not enough time, but 9 special years together. My girls Ella and Erica got a kick out of Eddie(Spaghetti) and we were always happy to have him at our family functions. 

The best story, which I always asked Eddie to re-tell, was when he accidentally took the bus on the highway. He had  gotten distracted by an attractive woman that entered the bus and sat up front and chatted with him. Next thing he knew he was on the highway headed to Kitchener and missed his route. He messaged  back to the station about his mishap, but was proud to say,  he got everyone to their stops on time and was progressive in getting transit to travel on highways ;)

A true gentleman. Happy to have had you in our lives and given Grandma such great years. Casinos, Chinese food and Baseball games. The simple things; yet count as wonderful cherished memories.

I first met Ed at Scroggin Shoes and we instantly became friends, that carried on when we both worked at Cambridge Transit together.  Ed was really nice guy one that you take instant like to, he was funny, friendly always helpful.  I remember one time we were both leaving the Ainslie St terminal turning onto the roadway, when all of sudden Ed had to stop fast for car that cut in front of him, and I didn't anticipate this and tried to miss Ed's bus but I couldn't, and my side mirror touched the rear window of Ed's bus and it shattered.  I remember Ed got out of the bus and jokingly said "now why did you do that" and I jokingly replied "why did you stop so fast".   Management told us to fill out reports and Ed and I had good laugh about it and Ed had to wait for replacement bus and I went on my merry way.

Uncle Ed reminded me of the day I ran away from  grandmas house and took off down the street on grand ave...Nice try uncle Ed.
If god didn't have a wing man he does now, Him and aunt beryl were so good to all his nieces and nephews. I learned how to say the alphabet backwards  and I got a dollar. He took care of every buddy in his life,,my mom after dad died and his companion Edith. He just loved life and his family and friends.
We're going to miss you buddy at or bowling reunions. Love you to the moon and back.


A little old man shuffled slowly into an ice cream parlour & pulled himself slowly, painfully up onto a stool. After catching his breath, he ordered a banana split. The waitress asked kindly, “crushed nuts?” “No”, he replied. “Arthritis.”
That’s for you Uncle Ed for all the jokes and laughter you provided all the time.  We’ll miss your thoughtfulness, kindness & your humour!
