Passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. At the age of 83, after his battle with cancer and C.O.P.D. Beloved husband of Jeanne for 51 years. Devoted father to son, Scott (Tanya), and daughters Sheri (Tim) Wunder, Tracy (Jeff) Shantz and Vicki Watson. Cherished grandpa/poppa to Brea, Nixon, Lincoln, Riley, Ella, Brandon, Mackenzie, and Selena. Predeceased by sister Sylvia Lang, parents Leslie and Lillian Thornton and in-laws Stanley and Vinetta Cripps. Ed will be sadly missed by his extended family and friends, especially longtime friends Monika and John Wragge. The family would like to thank all medical doctors, nurses and staff at the Cambridge Medical Day Clinic, Grand River and Guelph General Hospitals and WWLHIN. As per Ed’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will not be a funeral or visitation. A private family gathering will be held. In lieu of flowers, if desired, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Grand River Hospital Foundation to support the Cancer Care Centre or to the Lung Association.
