Eleanor Frances McDonald

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor (Nell) Francis McDonald (Pearl), who died peacefully on June 21, 2025, at Lisaard House in Cambridge, Ontario, in her 101st year. Born in 1924 on Bell Island, Newfoundland, Nell lived a full and independent life that took her across the country before she made Cambridge, Ontario her home for the past 35 years. She was a strong, spirited woman, living on her own until just a month before her passing. Nell was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Julia Pearle, and by all her siblings: Alice Dwyer (Gerald), Brendan Pearle (Marg), Rene Pearle, Philomena Smith (Cyril), Anna Sweeney, Edna Dwyer (Frederick), and William Pearl (Betty). She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews across Canada and the United States, especially Billy Pearl (Caroline), who was her devoted primary caregiver and constant support in her later years. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and many friends. The family extends their sincere thanks to her favourite PSW, Anita, and to all the staff and volunteers at Lisaard House for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Nell in her final days. Nell’s legacy of strength and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Visitation will take place at the T. Little Funeral Home, 223 Main St., on Monday, June 30, 2025 from 12pm-1pm. A Celebration of Nell’s life will be held in the chapel at 1pm. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lisaard House would be appreciated.
