Trudy grew up on a farm in Barkley County near Dryden Ontario and completed her teaching certification and began her teaching career in Red Lake Ontario in a one room school house. Trudy secured a teaching position in the town of Iroquois Falls Ontario in 1955. Living in the town hotel she met the love of her life, Michael and married on April 20, 1957. They were married just two weeks short of 50 years when Trudy lost Michael on April 1, 2007.
Trudy touched the lives of many of her students throughout her 30+ years of teaching. Proud to be part of this Northern Ontario community Trudy spent many years teaching elementary classes, focusing on Grades 5 and 6. An avid curler and bridge player, Trudy and Michael retired in North Bay Ontario, staying true to their Northern Ontario roots.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has occurred and a private family gathering will occur. Trudy and Michael’s ashes will rest in Iroquois Falls where they met, raised their family, had amazing friendships and spent most of their lives together.
