Surrounded by love Hank passed peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Friday March 27th in his 95th year. Beloved husband of 70 years to Jean (nee Easterbrook). Loving father to Carolyn (Pam 2008), Russell (Julie) and Terry (Sandy). Cherished Grandpa to Amanda (Scott), Alyson (Josh), Zarena (Brent), Mirrelle (Neil), David (Delia), Cori (Clayton), Holly (Chad); 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Hank enlisted in the Navy in 1939 and served as a signalman until 1945. During that time he was stationed in St. Johns, Newfoundland, where he met Jean, the love of his life. He loved Newfoundland as his second home. Hank was a lifelong volunteer, well recognized in the Cambridge community where he lived for 54 years. His faith was central to his life and he was actively involved in all of the churches he attended. He was an avid gardener and loved feeding the birds every morning. He loved and was proud of his family. Hank was named Cambridge’s first ‘Good Neighbour of the Week’ in 1992, and we would like to thank Maria Costa, Barb and Ralph Tippen, Dawn Graham and all of his neighbours and friends who supported him and allowed he and Jean to continue living independently for so many years. Thanks also to Cambridge Memorial Hospital nurses Amy and Joanne, who helped comfort and care for him in his last days. Cremation has taken place. To honour Hank’s wishes a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday April 2nd at Good News Church 215 South St, Cambridge at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
