Hildegard is predeceased by her loving mother, also named Hildegard, and her father Oldrich. She is survived by her daughter Theresa (John), her grandchildren Jordan, Jacobi (Cheyenne) & Brett, great grandson Jaxxson, and her brother Norman (Diane), sisters Anni and Rosalin, and nieces & nephews, Gerald, Annette, Dolores, Mark, Gregory, Cynthia, Evelyn and Janet and their families.
Hilda was the oldest of 4 children. She was born and raised just outside of Norwich and eventually moved to Cambridge when she married and settled down to raise her own daughter.
In her earlier years of life, she spent a great deal of time keeping her father company as he labored on the farm. Living in the country was hard but Hilda had no problem with the dirt and sweat as she worked beside her father out in the fields, in the greenhouses, the barns and at the markets. It was there that her love of the great outdoors blossomed, and she learned the value of hard work. She also developed a quick wit and headstrong personality that stayed with her for her entire life and that made her an adventure to be around. As soon as the work was done Hilda was cleaned up and dressed to the 9s in her tailored outfits with her dark wavy hair and bright blue eyes sparkling; she was always on the go!
Hilda and her family were all hardworking individuals, but they always made time to unwind and enjoy their time together. Some of that time was spent going to the beach in the summer months for swimming and waterskiing and going downhill and cross-country skiing or skating in the winter months. Music and laughter were abundant, along with good times in the company of family and friends.
Fast forward to marriage, becoming a mother and then a grandmother – Hilda did not slow down. Hilda always remained focused on the things that made her happy: She loved the outdoors, she loved her plants, she loved the markets, she loved a good bargain, she loved a good meal (including dessert) and she loved time with her family!
Hilda will carry on in our memories like the lively spirit she held on to every day.
