OBITUARY

Joan Catherine Sutherland

15 August, 193215 April, 2021

Safely home with her Lord and Saviour in her 89th year. Cherished wife of 63 years to Sidney Sutherland (2015) Loving mother and friend to Nancy Savage (Paul), Sandy Sutherland, Janice (Joe) Galvao. Amazing Grandmother to Megan (1983), Laura (Pasquale), Kyle, Jessica, Alyssa (Jordan), Amy (Hunter) and Alanna and special GG to Logan, Sienna, Rex & Khristian.

Born in London ON, Mom spent her married life in Cambridge. Mom loved her family. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate us. She was her happiest when we were together. Always smiling, and laughing, always supporting her many friends and church community. If you met my Mom, you were her friend. She had such a great sense of humour and was always up for a prank or joke. She loved going on cross border shopping trips and visiting her friends.

She spent over 25 years volunteering as the church social convener at Temple Baptist Church, making every event extra special. She, along with her many volunteers organized all the funerals, weddings, showers and church socials. If she called you to make sandwiches, you better cut your crusts off ! She cooked for meals on wheels and supported every charitable endeavour her family took on. Mom lived with multiple cancer diagnosis with hardly a complaint. Every Dr appointment was a social outing. She loved visiting and would tell everyone she met that the Lord was good to her and He would see her through. She said she always had peace knowing she was in the Lords hands. She has been an inspiration to so many people and a mentor to many ladies in the community. Always giving godly advice and living an authentic Christian life.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Joan's memory to Temple Baptist Church or Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

We will miss her so much !! Love you Mom.

My deepest sympathies to Janice and family. The love and admiration you have for your mom shone through every time you spoke of her. It is quite interesting reading about Joan as I can see where Janice gets her easy going, mischievous, as well as loving nature from. I will always be here for you Janice! If you ever need anything, I am just a call away! Love you lots my friend! xo

I only met your Mother a few times but I often heard many wonderful stores about how amazing, giving and caring that your Mother was from my sister Pat Singleton.
