With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of John McIntosh, who left us peacefully on May 29, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in 1943 in Greenock, Scotland, he was predeceased by his parents, Annie and John.
John’s life was defined by love, loyalty, and quiet strength — always anchored by a deep devotion to his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 59 years, Jen McIntosh, and their four children: Paul (Hillary), James (Karen), Peter (Amanda), and Anne.
John was a proud and loving granddad to Dalton, Holden, Brody, Davis, Henry, and Ewan — along with his loyal four-legged companion, Harvey.
He also leaves behind his siblings — Archie (Josephine), Maureen (Alex), Peter (Marion), Angela (Alex), and Thomas — as well as his brother-in-law, Bob (Marian). Their close bonds endured throughout the years. John also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
A true family man, John found his greatest joy in supporting his children and grandchildren. Whether offering a steady hand, heartfelt advice, or a quiet word of encouragement, he was always there. His calm presence and unwavering love were the foundation of his family’s lives.
After retiring from Marcon Custom Metals in 2008, John embraced the pleasures of retirement: traveling, golfing, cheering on his grandkids at sports events, and spending winters with friends in Florida. Wherever he went, John brought warmth, humour, and an easygoing spirit that made everyone feel at home.
John’s life was marked by generosity, kindness, and quiet courage. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held to honour John's life at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St Andrews Street, Cambridge on Sunday, June 8 at 1:00 p.m., with light refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember him are invited to make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
