On Monday, May 5th,2014 our warrior lost his long 9 year battle with prostate cancer that metastasized to his bones and spine at Lisaard House at the age of 79. He leaves behind the love of his life of 53 years Joyce (Walsh). Beloved father to Isabelle (Steve Kovacs) and Wanda. Cherished grandpa to Taylor Lethbridge. Predeceased by his parents Guy Holland and Josephine Rooney, sister Bertha McKoy, and brothers -in-law Leonard McKoy, Wilfred Marion, Arnold Langlois and Urban Rehel. Brother-in-law to Hazel Langlois, June Rehel, Maxine (Beverly) Rooney, Jane (Melvin) Briand, Caroline Marion, Albertine (Tom) Henderson, John Walsh and Madeleine Walsh. Special uncle to Josie McKoy, and the Langlois and Marion families.
We have met incredible people during his journey and there are so many people to thank; Dr. Gallagher for the diagnosis and education, Dr. Chouinard and his team of doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers. Without your expertise of treatments and trial drugs we would not have had the past 3 years with him which we are so very grateful for. Each of you made him feel special and knew by the smell of his cologne he was in the hospital. Dr. Kuk, for the aggressive radiation treatment once the spinal cancer was detected and the midnight run, CCAC-especially Joanne and Pat, for allowing us to keep him home for as long as we could, the 3rd and 4th floor nurses at CMH, for the care during our lengthy stays, Lisaard House RNs, PSWs, staff, and volunteers, for the care and compassion that you provided to him and to his family for the past 15 weeks. All of you will hold a special place in our hearts for the love you provided. And finally to our family and friends, we could have never done this without all of you. We are so lucky that you all loved him as much as we did.
He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye until he no longer could. We miss him already, we will love him forever and until we see him again....go and walk with the angels now. Family will receive relatives and friends at T. LITTLE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 223 Main Street, Cambridge, (519-623-1290) on Sunday May 11th for visitation from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday May 12th at 10am at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 210 South Street, Cambridge. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the CMH Oncology Department or Lisaard House.
