Lorna Elizabeth (Cone) McCormick

It is with great sadness that the family of Lorna Elizabeth McCormick (née Cone) announces her peaceful passing on July 23, 2026, at the age of 82, while surrounded by her loving family at Stirling Heights Long Term Care Home.

Lorna was predeceased by her parents, James and Minnie Cone; her beloved sister, Myrna Glass; her nephew, Ian Glass; and her former husband, and cherished lifelong friend, Patrick McCormick.

She leaves behind her daughter, Amanda (Daniel) Campbell, and her treasured grandsons, Sean Patrick and Kellan Gerard, who brought immense joy to her life. She will also be missed by her brother, Rodney Cone (Jennifer Smith); her nephew Randy Cone, her niece, Cathy Mercier; her nephew, David Glass (Diana Brecka); her brother-in-law, William Glass; her sister-in-law, Debra McCormick (Emmanuel Likakis); as well as many dear friends and former colleagues.

Born on Christmas Day in Edmonton, Alberta, Lorna spent more than 50 years in Toronto, a city she loved and proudly called home. Throughout her career, she dedicated herself to helping others. She worked for many years with the Canadian Red Cross, where she coordinated famine relief efforts and assisted in reuniting families separated by conflict and disaster. She later served as Chief Executive Officer of BOMI Canada. Following her retirement, Lorna devoted herself to caring for her two grandsons until they reached school age, a role she embraced with love and pride.

Lorna will be remembered for her compassion, kindness, and generosity of spirit. She had a wonderful sense of humor, an effortless sense of style, and a genuine love for people and new experiences

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Stirling Heights Long Care Home for their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Lorna's memory are invited to make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
