Marilyn Carew (Blaine) aka Mom, TOM, Nana and Aunt Mimi passed away peacefully at Lisaard House Hospice in Cambridge, Ontario on Monday August 17th, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Predeceased by her husband Elmer Carew, much loved by her children Mark (Aida) and David (Rob). She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren Rachel (Mike), Rebecca (Connor), Jacob (Marysa) and her sweet great grandchildren Caleb and Flora, as well as her many relatives and friends.
Marilyn was known as a tough lady with a kind heart. Her home was always the place where everyone gathered, and there was never a shortage of food, laughter, or strong coffee and opinions! She was fiercely independent, strong-willed, and always ready to speak her mind. But what everyone loved most was her mischievous—and slightly dark—sense of humour, a gift she proudly passed down to the whole family. Her laughter, wit, and unforgettable personality will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the caring and supportive team at Lisaard House for their extraordinary kindness. Marilyn’s last days were filled with love and compassion.
As per Marilyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held at Mount View Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lisaard House Hospice of Cambridge.
