Mary McDougall

Died in Cambridge, ON: March 10, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother and sister, Mary McDougall. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Golden Years Nursing Centre surrounded by loving family and her care workers who treated her with kindness, respect and compassion during her stay with them. Mary was born in her beloved Glace Bay and moved to Ontario in the 1960s. When she could travel, she loved to return home to visit family and friends in Cape Breton.

Mary was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Barrett. She is survived by her daughters Ann Gouthro (Sheldon), Rita Erlac (Peter), Karen White (Allan) and sons Jack (Patty) and Joe (Annette). She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by her sister, Verda MacKenzie and brothers, Donald “Duck” (Shirley), Ken (Linda) and Bill (Florence) and sisters-in-law, Mae, Ethel and Bess Barrett.

Mary was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Charlie and her brothers, George, Max, Abe, Jim and her sisters Sarah and Elizabeth.

Mary was a devoted member of St. Gregory’s Church and a long-time member of C.W.L.

Special thanks to the Sawdon family, especially Linda, who over the years of their close friendship, has always been there to provide comfort and help whenever needed.

A Funeral Service will be held at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge (519-621-1650) on Wednesday, March 13th, 2013 at 1:00pm with burial to follow at Mount View Cemetery, Cambridge.
