Mike passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Grand River Hospital surrounded by his loving family, due to complications following a three-year battle with Leukemia. He will be sadly missed by his best friend and loving wife, Katherine (Crowe), and their four children: Adam (Julie), Ian (Val), Morgan (Nicky) and Carmen (Rob MacDonald) and 9 amazing grandchildren: Ava, Meredith, Caleb, Oscar, Cadence, Calvin, Veronica, Jocelyn and Benjamin. He is survived by his 2 brothers Fred (Anne) and Julian (Marilyn) and sister-in-law, Kitty. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Pat and brothers Steve and Paul. He leaves behind nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Michael began working at Crowe Foundry as a teenager, mentored by his father-in-law, Bob Crowe and after finishing his MBA returned and eventually became President until 2009. He loved his work and especially working with his family. He and his brother-in-law, Dave Crowe, have stayed involved in the foundry industry. There will be a celebration of his life at Trinity Anglican Church, 12 Blair Road in Cambridge, on Saturday, December 11 at 11 a.m., reception and refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Family and Children's Services of Guelph and Wellington County. http://www.fcsgw.org/en/. The family is most appreciative for the kind support from the staff of the 6th floor at GRH, including Dr. Bonnie McCarron and Dr. Thandi Kumalo, and the ICU nurses, especially Kayla and Kelly. With a Stem Cell transplant, Leukemia is a curable disease. Consider registering at www.one-match.org to become a Stem Cell Donor. Think of Mike while on your next canoe trip or working on your cottage - two of his favourite pastimes - as he is sure to be there with you. Arrangements entrusted to Coutts Funeral Home , 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge, Ontario N1S 1M8 (519)621-1650.
