It is with sadness that the family of Nelson Maidment announces his passing on September 15, 2026 in his 86th year. He passed away peacefully at Park Lane Terrace in Paris, Ontario, where he lived since 2025.
Nelson was born in Glacé Bay, Cape Breton and moved to Cambridge with his family as a young boy. He took pride in his work at Pacific Patterns as a pattern maker. After he retired, he enjoyed working on construction projects. He loved music, cottage life, swimming, skating and collecting stamps, coins and sports memorabilia.
He was a member of the Salvation Army.
Nelson was predeceased by his parents, Eleazar and Pearl, his stepmother Elizabeth “Lizzie”, his sister Norma and his brothers Russell, John and George. Fondly remembered by his sister Bess and brother Ted (Audrey). Will forever remain in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A special thank you to the staff at Park Lane for their kindness and care for Nelson during his stay.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Monday, October 19 at 11:30 am at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge with a reception to follow.
