Wife of the late George Kenneth Wright, youngest daughter of Mary Hutchison (née Campbell) and James T. Hutchison, beloved mother of Susan and James (Allyson), proud grandmother of Jennifer (Ian), and cherished sister of Elizabeth Joyce and the late Dr. James Hutchison. Also missed by Alysa and Ryan Fairchild, Mackenzie Backs, and her seven beloved nieces and nephews.
A proud 1953 alumna of the Guelph General Hospital School of Nursing, Ruth’s career as a Registered Nurse included many happy years on the obstetrical ward of the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital (Cambridge), a period as Director of the Galt Public Health Unit, and the last years of her career in the staff Health Office of the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. One of Ruth’s fondest memories was when her father, James Hutchison (a First World War vet), had a Sherlock-Manning upright piano delivered to their Guelph home, to the family’s surprise. Ruth worked diligently at her piano studies, eventually completing the ARCT diploma and serving for a period as organist at St. James Anglican Church, Guelph. She sang for a number of years in the Trinity Anglican Church choir, and passed on her abiding love of music to her family.
The family wishes to express its most profound gratitude to the staff and residents of the Fairview Mennonite Home for the loving care, concern and kindness shown toward Ruth during the last four years of her life.
The Funeral Service will take place at Trinity Anglican Church, 12 Blair Road, Cambridge, on Saturday, November 17th, at 1:30 pm, with the Reverend Canon David Bowyer officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Guelph. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Trinity Anglican Church or to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation, in Ruth’s memory.
