Devoted husband to Donna Brown for 53 years. Beloved Dad to Edward 'Ted' and James (Linda). Loving Papa to Ruby and Grayson. Brother to David (Marcela) and brother-in-law to Gary (Eleanor). Proud uncle to Albert, Christopher, Amber and Shannon. Predeceased by his parents Albert and Mary Brown. Tom will be fondly remembered by many extended family and friends.
With Tom’s passing, the City of Cambridge has lost one of its greatest advocates. As a downtown businessman, Tom was passionately involved in the downtown Galt core. If you visited him for the first time at F.J. Brown & Son, you would be sure to get a history lesson. He was often interviewed when the local TV station reported on the 1974 Cambridge flood.
Tom was quick to make new friends, and always welcomed visitors to his store or his church with a warm smile. He enjoyed fellowship and sharing coffee (and dessert!) with his friends downtown. Tom rarely missed a Galt Hornets hockey game. He was a long-time member of Central Presbyterian Church and served on the Board of Managers. He was also actively involved in the Rotary Club of Cambridge and Probus.
Tom was immensely proud of his deep family history in Cambridge and of his Scottish heritage. He even took a solo trip to Scotland to explore his Turnbull roots.
In 2004 a dream finally came true during his lifetime when his beloved Boston Red Sox won the World Series.
