Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 at Innisfree House, Kitchener after a brief illness in his 87th year. Beloved husband to Phyllis (nee Wilson) of 65 wonderful years, loving father to Linda (Bert) Perriman, Barb (Brad) Edworthy, Marion (Chris) Edworthy and Duff (Sandy) Lantz, proud Grandpa to Trevor (Becca), Joel (Kat), Brady (Cristina), Barry (Beth), Terri (Lee), Todd, Maddison, Mariah and great-grandpa to Caitlyn, Morgan, MacKenzie, Myah, Blake-Lynn, Angus and Paige Margaret. William will be missed and forever remembered by his extended family and friends, especially his loyal customers of the downstairs barber shop. William began his career as a fire fighter for the city of Galt on June 1, 1961 following over two years of volunteer service. He would eventually retire with the rank of Platoon Chief with The Cambridge Fire Department on April 6, 1989. William had a wide range of hobbies and interests, he enjoyed woodwork and was quite talented as anyone with one of his homemade canes or birds would know. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, a self-taught and very talented musician - he could teach himself to play nearly any instrument he picked up. A social man, he also enjoyed the time he spent as a member of the Galt Legion Br. 121 as well as the men’s choir. In keeping with William's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. He will later be laid to rest in the family plot at Drumbo Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations made in William's memory to The Salvation Army, The War Amps or Innisfree House would be greatly appreciated. A very special thank you to the nurses and doctors of Cambridge Memorial Hospital - 5th floor as well as the staff of Innisfree House for your care and compassion.
