Carol Ellen (Katz) Eden, of Enola, was born on Dec 25, 1927, referring to herself on occasion as “Christmas Carol”. She is predeceased by her husband, William, parents Abraham and Sarah, and a brother, Edward. Surviving are her brother, Richard, of Sarasota, Fl, son Andre St. Omer Roy (wife Crystal) of Mechanicsburg, a step-son James St. Omer Roy (wife Marie) of Seal Beach Ca, nephew Arthur Katz (wife Rita) of Poinciana Fl, and niece Nancy Petroske (husband John) of N. Miami Beach Fl.
Also surviving are her granddaughters, Emily and Michelle St. Omer Roy, her cousins, Ann Jacobs and Ellen Perchonock, great-nieces, Jennifer Teran and Ilanna Katz- Hubert and great-nephew, Reuben Katz.
Carol grew up in Hartford, Ct and had a great singing voice. She appeared on The Ed Begley Show and, at one time, turned down an offer to sing with the band of one of the Dorsey brothers. At times, she lived and worked in New York City and Washington, DC. Coming to Central Pennsylvania in the early 1950s, she worked for the former Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg and at Icelandic Seafood in Camp Hill.
Carol loved people and made many friends at the River of God Church in Enola. It was interesting to watch her move from group to group prior to services. She enjoyed playing cards and could be routinely found Tuesday thru Thursday at the Enola, Lemoyne and Hampden Senior Centers. She took pleasure in baking cakes for her fellow card players.
Carol loved dogs and was seldom without one over the years. From Tarzan as a girl, to Charlie and Jennie when raising their pups, to her latest, Lupo, she loved them all.
In her final days, she was cared for admirably, by her brother, Richard, her “guardian angel” from church, Dolly Comp, and numerous folks with Hospice.
Visitation will be at River of God Church, 747 Wertzville, Rd., Enola from 2-3PM Sunday, June 10, 2018, with Memorial service to follow at 3:00 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to contribute to River of God Church, the Humane Society or Hospice of Central PA.
