Born on March 29, 1924 in Tower city, PA to the late David Arthur and Katie (Kiehl) Evans.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Joyce Evans; son, David L. Evans; and grandson Rex Gensler. David was the last surviving sibling of fourteen.
Surviving Dave is his daughter, Sandra Gensler of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Elaine (Jason) Meily of Palmyra; great grandchildren, Joseph Gouse of Baltimore, MD; Paige and Dexter Meily of Palmyra; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
David retired from the Patriot News after working in the composing room for over 40 years. Later in life he worked part time for the Harrisburg Auto Auction in Mechanicsburg, PA.
David is a WWII Army veteran (1st Calvary Division), where he served in the Philippines and Japan from 1943 to 1946. David was a lifetime member of the NRA, past post commander of the American Legion, 50 year member of the Masons (Legion of Honor) in the Lowther Manor Lodge, and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown, PA.
He enjoyed photography, hiking, hunting, bike riding, music, woodworking, and sports (especially watching the Phillies). Dave and his wife Joyce, enjoyed many vacations touring the United States with his brother-in-law and sister-in-law.
A visitation will be held on Saturday March 19, 2022 from 10:00-11:00am at the Neill Funeral Home; 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Tri-County Memorial Gardens; 740 Wyndamere Road, Lewisberry, PA 17339.
