She was born on May 8th, 1916 in Ann Arbor, MI to the late Dr. P. C. Yang and Mrs. L. Yang.
Helen was a pioneering woman for her time. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics, and worked in banks, universities… while raising her three daughters. Helen was passionate about helping those in need. One of her proud accomplishments was her charity work including raising funds to build housing for families in need.
Helen devoted her life to her family. Her emphasis to the importance of higher education, and her gentle loving support and guidance significantly benefited her children and grandchildren’s lives and careers.
Helen lived a full life enjoying reading, travels, music, arts, jewelry, knitting, and sharing good food with family and friends. She was a courageous, loving, fun, and kind person, loved by everyone around her.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Major General Chih K. Chang. She is survived by her loving daughters Teri, Betsy, Florrie and their husbands Richard, Allen, Rick; grandchildren Darrick, Laura, Alison; great grandchildren Riley, Taylor and Kennedy.
Helen’s private funeral ceremony will be held in Mechanicsburg, PA, and gravesite ceremony will be held in Sharon, MA.
