John, US Navy retiree, was born May 28,1951. He was the son of the late John R. McNeill, MD and Lorraine S. McNeill, RN (Shaffer.)
He is survived by his sisters Kristen McNeill Ford and Sallie Jo McNeill. Sallie was his caregiver as his health declined until the time of his passing.
For 30 years John served as a civil servant with the US Navy, where he was responsible for overseeing the dispatching of ship parts. John was known by his colleagues for his profound intelligence.
John’s passions in life included his family, reading, model ships, playing chess and his beloved dachshunds, Snickers and Charlie Brown.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
