Margaret was born in Wisconsin, but grew up in Hanover, New Hampshire near Dartmouth College, where her father was a professor. With two brothers and two sisters and a high-energy mother, Margy's childhood home was filled with games, books, adventures, noise and, or course, regular trips to Storrs Pond and the Skiway. Margaret attended the Hanover schools but graduated in 1967 from Fryeburg Academy in Fryeburg, Maine. She obtained a bachelors degree at the University of New Hampshire and then moved to Harrisburg, PA and worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare. She continued her academic work and received her PhD in Psychology from Penn State University. Partnering with a friend, they launched a business call PIP printing in Mechanicsburg, PA. Her love for helping people, and her knack for connecting with people and communicating so easily, led her back into the counseling field where she worked at Philhaven, PA Counseling, and Keystone Health Center until her retirement.
Margy loved athletics - from being a lifeguard at Storrs Pond, to a ski instructor in Colorado, with golf and racquetball on and off, she was always very active and lived life large. Margy had an amazing sense of humor and brought joy to all around her every day.
She was preceded in death by her young brother Jeffrey, her father John Sr., and her mother Marion.
In her final months she was fortunate to receive loving care from HomeLand Hospice Services. She will be greatly missed by her dear friend Pam, her caregiver, Marie, as well as her siblings: John, Christine, Eric and Lisa.
In memory of Margy, please consider a contribution to one of the following organizations: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) or American Diabetes Association (ADA).
