Mark Anthony Bonema

Mark Anthony Bonema, 23, a former resident of Mechanicsburg, went to heaven on September 22, 2014. Mark was born in Ann Arbor, MI on December 4, 1990. He was a graduate of Trinity High School and earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh where he was a member of the university's golf team and was a transfer student ambassador. At the time of his death, Mark was a medical student at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Lynchburg, VA. Mark loved life. He enjoyed science and took the time to find beauty in unexpected places; his presence would light up a room. A sports enthusiast at heart, Mark especially loved Michigan football, hiking, biking and fireworks. Igloos were his specialty in snowy weather. Mark is survived by his parents, Stephen and Anne of Mechanicsburg, a brother, David of McLean, VA and his dog, Mackinaw. He will be greatly missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, September 29, 2014 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 1 Peter Dr., Mechanicsburg. A viewing and rosary will be held 9:30 AM Monday until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at the Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society of Harrisburg.
