Molly Landon Robertson, 58, of Camp Hill, passed away from breast cancer Saturday, April 27, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving village of family, friends and pets. Born July 17th, 1965, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. and Marjorie (Gilman) Landon. Molly graduated from Central Dauphin High School, and received a BFA from the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design (PCA&D) in 1987. She was best known for her contributions to the local theater community, and was regarded as a passionate activist, devoted mother, and a loyal friend.
In her early years, Molly was an accomplished equestrian, garnering numerous accolades in regional horseback riding competitions. This kindled a deep, lifelong affection for animals that brought her closer to those around her. She would go on to dedicate her time and energy towards animals in need whenever she could. Throughout her life, an array of rescue animals of all shapes, sizes, and personalities called her house their home.
Molly's artistic brilliance was evident from a young age and only deepened over her lifetime. After earning her BFA from PCA&D, she became a vibrant force within her community, applying her skills to everything from creating striking graphics for local businesses to designing flyers that helped promote her late husband, Randy Robertson’s, music store, Triple R Guitar. Her artistic journey took a significant turn when her twin daughters joined their school's drama department, where she became a mom to many. Initially volunteering to help, Molly quickly became indispensable, ultimately serving as the district’s lead costume and set designer for over 20 years.
Even after retiring in 2021, Molly’s artistry knew no bounds. Renowned for her skilled "dumpster diving," she had a knack for breathing new life into discarded items. Molly crafted wind chimes from antique silverware and transformed old pianos and record players into beautifully functional bars and tables. Her dedication to the arts continued as she assumed the role of Technical Director at the Narcisse Theatre Company, where she enhanced local theater productions with her ingenuity and wisdom. Molly’s enduring legacy of creativity and service remains a profound source of inspiration to all who knew her.
Her cancer diagnosis and sudden passing came as a shock to many. After losing her husband to cancer in 2016, she knew her time was limited. Family was always Molly’s focus – she chose to keep her diagnosis private and spend her remaining time with her loved ones. She wanted to be remembered the way she always was, and she remained strong and sharp, even in her final days.
Molly is preceded in death by her husband, Randy Robertson, and sister, Pauline Speidel. She is survived by her two daughters, Becca Robertson and Rachael Robertson; son, Brandon (Charlotte) Brady; stepson, Randal Robertson; two grandchildren, Haze Brady and Alesana Brady; two sisters, Betsy (John) Carricato and Susan (Bill) Varney; and brother, Bill (Karen) Landon.
A Celebration of Molly’s Life will be held on May 11, 2024, from 12-5pm at 2920 Dickinson Avenue, Camp Hill, PA 17011. For those wishing to pay their respects, the family requests for donations to be directed to either Molly's Place Rescue or the Narcisse Theatre Company in accordance with Molly’s final wishes.
