Patricia A. Stroup, 78 of Mechanicsburg, PA peacefully entered eternal life at West Shore UPMC Hospital on Monday, April 8, 2024. Born October 1, 1945, in Lebanon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lola Hvezdos.
Surviving is her husband of 28 years, Russell Stroup, daughters Theresa (Rick) Gibney; Daughter Chrisanne Groce; son Kenneth (Lori) Stroup, daughter Donna (Chris) Faith; her seven grandchildren Matthew, Kyle, Nicholas, Lauren, Annabelle, Sophia and Julianne, her brother John Hvezdos of NC, several nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Lola Jo Kaylor.
She retired from General Motors Acceptance Corp. (GMAC), after 37 years where she became the first woman Sales Supervisor. Pat loved to sing and thru the years sang with various choirs in Central PA including 20 years with the El Shaddai Singers, and loved performing at the Forum in Harrisburg. In addition, she also sang in the Mechanicsburg Ecumenical choir. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg where she sang in their choir for 30 years, taught CCD for 19 years and participated in Bible Study for 9 years. Known affectionately as Patti, and Nana Pat, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. Nana’s house was the place to be during the holidays. Pat was an avid gardener who blessed her neighbors and friends with the vegetables she grew. She enjoyed traveling and took many trips to Mexico, Las Vegas, Arizona, Bahamas, Disney World, but loved their “Turkey Roost” cabin in West Virginia and the Shenandoah National Park the most. Pat had a generous spirit and used her time to help other with charitable deeds like making sleeping bags for the homeless, prayer Shawls, and many face masks during Covid. Her deep faith and trust in God, allowed her to endure the past few years of her declining health.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday April 18, 2024 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church 410 East Simpson St, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 at 11am. A visitation will be held at 10am until the time of the funeral mass. Interment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1313 South York St, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
