He was born February 28, 1954 in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late William and Patricia (Whitecar) Ennis.
He was a graduate of the University of Michigan in 1977 with a master’s degree in woodwind performance. He went on to teach middle school instrumental music, and soon moved into the high school instrumental music program. During his 32 years as a teacher, he worked as a chief negotiator for the union, and supported countless students as they became music educators and performers. He retired at age 55. Beyond his deep love of music, he was passionate about history and the outdoors. He also was deeply passionate about photography and photographic editing.
William was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Deborah A. Ennis, of New Cumberland, daughters, Heather Nicole Ennis, of New Cumberland and Meghan Renee (Ennis) Prato, her husband Brian, of East Stroudsburg, granddaughter, Claire Renee Prato and his brother, Jack Ennis.
Funeral service will be conducted Friday, November 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM from Neill Funeral Home, 3401 Market St. Camp Hill. Viewing will be from 12:00 to 2:00 prior to service.
