Janie Zmaeff (Cassar) passed peacefully at home at age 66 in the loving arms of her partner of 25 years. Janie was born in Qormi, Malta and shortly after immigrated to Powell River, BC with her adventurous parents and 2 older siblings. Throughout her childhood the family spent a great deal of time camping and traveling. Janie's love for the outdoors followed her into adulthood. Janie made many close friends during her younger years that remained with her into adulthood, often getting together for girls weekends through the years. Janie was also known for the delicious food she created and shared with friends and family both as a career and just for fun. She was a concert junky and loved to hear live music especially when accompanied by her friends and family. Her household was one of joy, music, and laughter. Janie had a sense of humour and kindness that was contagious. To be loved by Janie was to be wrapped in unwavering warmth. She will be deeply missed.
Janie is survived by her partner Jacob Fehr, daughter Carmen (Jason), son Christopher, siblings Paul (Pat), Doris (Dave), Mario (Roxanne), nieces Shanalisa (Cam), Tairalyn (Sammy), Andrea (Justin), nephews Dustin (Jennyfer), Mike (Carla) and AJ as well as many loving great-nieces and great-nephews and her many caring Fehr family in-laws. She was predeceased by her parents; Anthony Cassar and Carmen Cassar.
