Joan Maureen Smith

Joan passed peacefully at Campbell River Hospital on March 17, 2026, following a period of declining health. Born in Winnipeg to William and Victoria Marshall, she lived a life defined by her own terms and deep convictions. Her husband, George David ("Dave") Smith, remained by her side daily until her final hours.

Family & Legacy Joan is survived by her husband, Dave; brother Victor; children, Owen (Janet), Rosemary, and her grandchildren; Bryanna, Beth, and Emily. Joan was predeceased by her daughter Noelene.

Service and Interment A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 28th, at Elk Falls Cemetery. In accordance with her wishes for an organic burial, she will be interred in an organic casket among the trees.

Memorial Tributes Joan requested simple seasonal flowers; a spray of daffodils from her garden will accompany her. In lieu of additional flowers, please consider a donation to her favourite causes:
