My Dad, Alec Merriman, sends his condolences. Dad is 93 now and in a nursing home. I have been sorting through Dad's pictures and a very many of them are of John and always with a huge fish.  John was a great friend and fishing partner to both Dad and Mom.  His name has been a household word for many, many years. He will be sorely missed. From daughter Barbara on behalf of Alec Merriman.

We're thinking of you Bev and all the family, so sorry to hear about John.

One can not help but smile when you think of John Ebert. His character, his smile and his laughter will always be remembered along with his stories. Sorry John I did not find you your special red shirt in New Zealand this trip. Ross and I will a raise a glass in your memory out in the Tyee Pool this season. You will be greatly missed my friend, remember to keep your fishing line tight even in heaven!

I will truly miss that smiley face. John does not realize the times he has changed my day with that smile and welcomed peace of fish. I am guessing he has not stopped fishing yet to realize his body is no longer here.  My prayers go out to his family.
