It is with profound sadness and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear beloved daughter and loving sister, Monica Erin Tancon. Monica passed away in Campbell River on Friday, February 9th, 2024 at the age of 38. Monica was born in Vancouver, BC on July 10th, 1985.
Monica was a loving, kind and compassionate person who chose nursing as her career and was deeply committed to helping others. Friends and colleagues have noted that Monica was not only dedicated to this important work but was very skilled at building trusting and caring relationships with the vulnerable individuals she worked with. Monica was passionate about travel and new experiences and went on many fantastic adventures including Nepal, Vietnam, Mexico, and Australia. She had the most beautiful smile that could light up your soul.
Monica is survived by her parents Rico & Bev, sister Kir and brother-in-law Rory as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Julius & Ruby Nordstrom and Otto & Amalia Tancon, uncles Frank Smith & Bruno Tancon. She will be so dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for her very large immediate family, longtime family friends and close personal friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a donation be made in Monica’s name to the British Columbia Schizophrenia Society (BCSS) or the BCSPCA.
She is now at rest in the arms of our loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, free from pain, and we take some solace in the fact that her mind is quiet. When you think of Monica, celebrate the wonderful and cherished memories you have of her, remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.
