Muriel Krook peacefully passed away at Campbell River Hospital on November 28th, in her 92nd year. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Gilbert, who predeceased her in 2006. Muriel is survived by her devoted sons Terry and Gary, her older sister Grace, and leaves behind a legacy of love cherished by grandchildren Christopher, Dustin, and Sarah (Patrick), as well as great-grandchildren Jackson, Harvey, and Mirabelle. She also had a special place in the hearts of extended family members Robert and Lydia Dale, chosen grandchildren, Kybor and Eliot Dubois, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Graham and staff for the extraordinary care Muriel received. Special thanks are extended to Colleen, Clay, and others at Cove Pharmacy. Muriel had a passion for reading, and the family would like to acknowledge the invaluable support of the library staff, particularly Barb van Orden.
In 1991, at the age of 60, Muriel underwent her first hip operation. Seeking to provide comfort during her recovery, her husband, Gilbert, visited the library to find her a few books. Unfortunately, he struggled with the selection. This is when Barb stepped in, becoming Muriel's literary companion for the next 25 years. Alongside Tracy and other staff, Barb consistently chose 3 to 5 books a week, sustaining Muriel's love for reading. Though her reading pace slowed in recent years.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no service. Muriel's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
