Verna Eva (Eve) Teubert, 82, passed peacefully on June 1, 2026, in the loving care of the Evergreen Seniors Home in Campbell River, B.C. where she had recently moved for support with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Calgary, Alberta to Ella and Gordon Rouse, she was predeceased by her brother James (2007) and sister Muriel (2019).
After attending Crescent Heights and Balmoral schools, she graduated from Calgary General Hospital as a registered nurse (RN) in 1965. Shortly thereafter, Eberhard (Abe) Teubert swept her off her feet; the couple married in 1966 and moved to B.C. where she began her nursing career at Lions Gate Hospital. Eve was a longtime resident of Port Coquitlam, B.C. where she and Abe raised their children, Liane and Mark.
She loved PoCo where she was an active resident participating in bowling, curling, bridge club, hiking, walking and her passion, singing. Eve became a member of Trinity United Church when she and Abe moved to PoCo and her connection to the TUC choir brought her joy and friendship. Her love of song remained a constant throughout her life and in recent years she joined the Choral Connections community choir where she found happiness from raising her voice alongside others.
Eve was a passionate RN and thrived in multiple roles while working at Ridge Meadows hospital. The friendships forged during her nursing career fed her fun-loving spirit resulting in multiple hiking trips, including the West Coast trail, annual ski trips and countless adventures. Upon her retirement, she and Abe traveled to Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and enjoyed many cruises and RV holidays. Eve’s quick wit and warm spirit endeared her to those around her. She treasured the friendship she made throughout her life and remained connected to many dear friends over the years. She was devoted to her family and took every opportunity to connect with loved ones. The relationships she held were the heart of her life and remained her greatest source of happiness and comfort until her final days.
Eve is survived by her children, Liane (Rich) and Mark (Elaine); her niece and nephew, Lauren and Gord (Sheri) and great niece and nephew, James and Eva.
A celebration of her life will be held in Port Coquitlam at Trinity United Church on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Trinity United Church or Choral Connections Community choir, both of which she held close to her heart.
