Bernard Guitard

Husband of the late Armande Leclair and born on February 16, 1932, in Campbellton, NB to the late Alfred Guitard and late Eveline (Lejeune) Guitard.

Bernard is survived by his six dedicated daughters; Anna Larochelle, Evelyn Seney (John), Louise Reid (Richard), Marie Lafrance (Max), Sandra Guitard-Doucet (Roger) and Donna Guitard (Derrick Downey).

He was blessed with seven grandchildren; Andrew, Jess (deceased), Veronique, Jennifer, Christine, Alexandre, Viviane, and ten great-grandchildren; Paige, Keagan, Jamie, Madison, Brea, Rylan, Brennan, Raphael, Damien, and Talia. Bernard also had several brothers and sisters and brothers and sisters-in-law (Leclair), both surviving and predeceased, who had a deep respect and admiration for him and to whom he is known lovingly as Bunny.

As a distinguished 27-year member of the Canadian Armed Forces, Sgt. Guitard (Ret’d) was a Korean War veteran and served with the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus. He was a proud military man through and through. Retiring out of Base Valcartier, QC, Banjo and his family settled in Dundee, NB. There he worked for the NBIP and then began a second career with District Scolaire No. 35, shuttling students from the Académie Notre-Dame in Dalhousie. He was known as a wonderful bus driver who went above and beyond for the students on his bus. Papa was self-taught and known for his ingenuity and adventurous spirit. If anyone ever asked him to go somewhere or take a trip, he would automatically respond, 'Let's go'! Over and above all, he was a family man and would always jokingly say that he was the best man in the house.

He will be forever remembered as a provider and protector and will be deeply missed.

Respecting our father's wishes, there will be no visitation and no service. He will be laid to rest in the Dundee Cemetery.
