

The death of Ernest "Ernie" Gagnon of Atholville occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on June 13th, 2010. Ernie left us at the young age of ninety following sixty-five years of marriage with his recently deceased wife Peggy who passed away last November.

Woodworth (Sandra), Ryan Woodworth and Vanessa Gagnon; Great Grandfather to Ann Elizabeth and Steven-James Couillard, Melissa, Kimberly, Alexa and Sabrina Nadeau, Beau and Brooke Wilkinson, Brady Murphy and Tristan Woodworth; loving brother to his sister Gertrude Leblanc (Bathurst, N.B.), Therese Thibeault (Cap de la Madeleine, Qc.) and Francoise O'Mara (Hamilton, Ont.).
He was predeceased by his parents Wilfred Gagnon and Année Caron as well as his sister Giselle Lagacy.
Ernie served in the Second World War between 1939-1944 as an Anti-Aircraft Gunner. Upon returning to Canada he married Peggy, the love of his life, and began working for the C.N.R. making many friends with his warm smile and never ending inventory of jokes.
Always willing to lend a helping hand, he got involved in numerous projects such as helping to build the ball park in Brookside and working as trainer for the Campbellton Tigers. Most of all, he was known for his famous hotdogs at the Memorial Gardens that he would serve any way you wanted "....as long as that is with mustard and relish....".
