She married Willie Jackson (Deceased) in 1961, followed by a second marriage to Tom Littlefield (Deceased) in 1976. From these two unions she was given five children: David (Deceased), Christine, Eric, Teresa, and Susan. She was a dedicated mother who worked very hard to make sure that her children were loved and cared for.
Barbara especially treasured her role as grandma (Gmab). She had seven grandchildren; Megan, Taylor, Demetris, Kyle, Dylan, Dominic, and Alana, along with three great grandchildren; Sawyer, Kadence, and Finn. She spent countless hours watching, loving, supporting, cherishing and teaching her grandchildren the most important lesson of this world, love. For Barbara, there was no greater way to live than to love wholeheartedly. She loved all God’s creatures great and small and was filled with joy feeding and watching the wildlife in her neighborhood.
One of Barbara’s most cherished jobs was working at the library. Her love for books and history was endless. The pages came alive to her and transported her on countless adventures to different time periods. You could always rely on her to have a beautiful quote for any occasion or a Bible verse to inspire you.
Barbara was overjoyed to travel with her family. She visited states such as Texas, Illinois, Massachusetts, Vermont, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida; soaking up the history of these places and seeing the sights with her children and grandchildren. With her son Eric, she also enjoyed excursions to Rome, Florence, Venice and all over Scotland, getting to explore foreign lands and the regions of her ancestors.
Barbara relished playing mahjong and cards with her friends and passed these traditions onto her children and grandkids. Whenever we play, we will always remember the way her face lit up when she called MAHJ!
Our angel will be missed and thought of each day. Our hope is for each of us to love as deeply and to be as kind to all as our sweet Barbara Sue.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 3:00 pm at her daughter Susan’s home; 22341 Lull St., Canoga Park, CA 91304
