On Tuesday, August 4, 2021, Donald “Don” Charles Bolin, born April 11, 1930, in Red Cliff, Colorado, passed peacefully with family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen “Kay” Bolin, his seven children Dennis, Donald, Mary, Arline, Kathy, Theresa, Maureen, 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Don and his beautiful bride, Kay were married on June 2, 1951. He served as a Navy Corpsman during the Korean Conflict, became a Taskforce Commander for the Los Angeles Fire Department and later the Deputy State Fire Marshall for the State of Washington.
Don made an impression everywhere he went. Anyone who ever met him never forgot their time with him. Don’s generous spirit, matchless sense of humor and his superhuman commitment to get a reaction regardless of how long he had to wait or how uncomfortable he made anyone around him, did not matter to him - Don would land his joke.
It is incalculable the impact Don had on the world. His warmth and compassion knew no bounds. He would give a stranger his last dollar, he would befriend anyone he met and lit up every room he was in. He will be missed but his legacy and spirit will live on forever in everyone who had the pleasure of crossing his path.
Services will be held at St. Mel’s in Woodland Hills on Saturday, August 7. Rosary will be held at 10:00 AM followed by Mass. Interment will follow at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
