Surrounded by family, Edith Frances Joanis passed away peacefully on July 16, 2013, after a short illness. Edith was born on July 27, 1923 in Huron, South Dakota, the daughter of John Edgar and Georgia Van Camp.
Edith was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Gerald Joanis, five sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by six sons - Ed Swenson (Pam), Doug Swenson, Paul Swenson (Jean), Eric Swenson (Kelly DeGregori), Brian Joanis (Kristi), and Kevin Joanis (Diane). She is also survived by nine grandchildren – Shawn Swenson, Amber Bauermeister (Skyler), Jessica Herman (Matthew), Jamie Swenson, Kyle Joanis, Alex Joanis, Kaileigh Joanis, Lucas Joanis, Keri Joanis; two great-grandchildren - Scott and Dean Swenson; one brother - Dick (Esther) and one sister - Kay.
Edith was the heart of her adoring family and will be deeply missed.
