Gregory Wayne Dupre passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2026 in the presence of his family. He was 79 years old. Greg spent the last several years facing the quiet onset of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis—more commonly known as ALS, or ‘Lou Gehrig’s Disease’, with remarkable resilience, even before he had a name for the challenges he was overcoming.
Though his last year had been full of challenges—losing his wife, recovering from spinal surgery, and dealing with the side effects of ALS, Greg never stopped fighting. He wanted to keep moving and tried to do whatever he could to get better. Throughout the entire process he was the light in the room with a wry smile, quick joke, or sarcastic comment about what he was dealing with. He exercised every day as best he could and never gave up. Unfortunately, complications from ALS made it increasingly difficult for him and ultimately, he succumbed to the disease.
Greg was a phenomenal husband, father, and friend. He and his wife Carolyn were happily married for 54 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War as a member of the 101st Airborne. During his post-military career, he was a respected engineer and leader. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, and golfer. He loved watching college football (while yelling at the refs), golf, and baseball.
He is survived by his daughter Deann, his son Noel, and his grandson Gavin.
In accordance with Greg's wishes, there will not be a service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Screaming Eagle Foundation https://screamingeaglefoundation.org in Greg’s memory.
