Mike, I love you like a brother and knew how close you and Alex were.  It always made me happy when the both of you went fishing.  I hope that you found peace in your new resting place. I will always remember Uncle Mike as a true free spirit with an amazing sense if humor. You will be missed, may you rest in peace.

Uncle Mike always telling it like it is! I'm glad you enjoyed your peanut butter cookies and treats while in the hospital. Mike, aka "Loper" you lived your life "your way" and knew when it was time to check out. It was an honor to spend your last meal and conversation with you. My brother mike was a great friend and brother...i understood him.He and I partnered up growing up,we loved adventure and living very close to the beach,we enjoyed watersports and getting lost on our bikes.mike loved Venice and knew more ways to get around in that town than most tour guides.we loved singing as we rode our bikes to Mark Twain jr high and laughed hard changing the songs lyrics with our friend Greg Clester.Mike struggled with his grades at times wanting to quit but it wasnt like him,so he gave it a go at it and graduated from Venice High . Mike had some betting he couldnt finish school but he sure fooled them...and for someone who was regarded as slow and lacked intelligence,he also built a homemade transistor radio that actually worked and from scratch .I remember his enthusiasm and talked about transistors and resistors and capacitors and wondered if he was calling me names.I was very proud of him.Mike had a difficult time with work as he wasnt sure what he enjoyed most and once he worked for a large moving company and as a janitor but he hated working nights.while in the Military my brother met a girl and fell in love . That relationship was mikes highlight,both were in love but her dad had plans to move out of state to separate them and they moved. mike changed overnight.Sometime later the girl he fell in love with was married to a serviceman from the east coast,she called him . my brother just gave up ! My brother was the most loving person I ever known and had the pleasure of sharing life with. He wasnt erragant ,but humble yet proud. he loved his family yet instances proved hard for him to take and so he questioned loyaltys. we loved to hang out and he never looked at his watch ,when he shared his time,he was your guest till the end. I wish he could have written his book,he always had lots to share. mike and I enjoyed fishing ,didnt matter where ,wheather on a commercial boat,pier ,rocks,beach or lake and we always caught fish. we once were on a boat ,the barracuda were in abundance. Mike fishing the opposite side of me,boom he'd land one and let out a growl he'd say I lost your jig but I brought lots...that day we caught a bunch of fish and I'll never forget the energy and fun we had. Mike got real sick and Magda took care of him and making his Doctors appointments. One day I took him fishing on the "New Del Mar" our favorite boat but Mike spent most of the time coughing and just stopped and sat down...he was overcome with chest pain and left his medicine at home. sometime passed and i
I asked him if he was up to fishing on a twilight fishing trip...its on he said.I asked him not to forget his meds and he said ok,so we went. he began to catch fish but a moist air condition came on us and he began to cough and just rested on the rail ...he was done.I knew then that Mike wasnt well and feared for the worst. one day Magda called me,she had taken Mike to emergency and he never went home.Mike died on the 13th day of december and he always wore Venice 13. I am deeply saddened by his loss but feel at least he isnt suffering.Those who saw him sit up at the hospital and rage and ramp at the nurses and thought he was well,were wrong. Mike was kept alive with rich 100%oxygen but take it away and he'd die in a day. well Mike was given every chance of life with every bit of equipment available as well as medicines and staff. i keep asking myself where he could be ,but emptiness I can only feel. My guess is that he is well and not suffering and that well only the lord knows best. I will forever hold him in my heart and say he was alright by me. I love you Mike wherever you are,catch a big one for me and I will see you soon.
