More than a decade has passed since the day you went home…

Caught the advanced viewing of Wicked: for good! And watched all the way through the end of the credits (just like we used to do).    Caught myself searching for your name and then remembering the movie nights watching  the Wizard of Oz…made me smile.   You were alway able to make me smile.

Mr. and Mrs. Cheney,

I cannot find the words to express my sadness to hear of Nicole's passing.  Though we lost touch after high school, I have the fondest of memories of a bright, caring and genuine person Nicole was as a young woman.  I regret that I only heard of her passing now and that I was unable to share my condolences with you in person.  My thoughts are with you, Paul Jr. and Nicole's family.  And, if appropriate, I want to give you both a sincere and heartfelt (though belated) thanks for being wonderful coaches to us as children.

I just heard about this today, and please accept my deepest condolences.  Growing up with Nicole was such a joy, especially since it involved activities that shared special moments with the whole Cheney family.  I cannot tell you how many times through the years that my family and friends have discussed our "Wonder Years" type of upbringing.  I still remember rides in the RV to many soccer games, with the back filled with all (or it seemed like all) of the soccer team.  I was glad to have shared elementary through high school with Nicole.  Even though I did not keep up with Nicole after high school, I am sure her love was shared deeply with her family then as she always seemed to share her smile.
