Walter Dumas (63), a longtime resident of the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 8:00 am. Walter had terminal liver cancer, and he passed peacefully in his sleep at home and did not suffer any pain during his illness or at death. He is now in the Lord’s hands.
Walter was born on September 27, 1949 to Marjorie Haywood and James Dumas. He was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and found his way to Los Angeles in 1975. Walter is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Walter, Freddie and George; two daughter-in-laws, Angela and Joanne; five grandchildren, Tyler, Malachi, Isaiah, Freddie Jr., and Genesis; mother, Margie; sister, Marva; brother, Cosbia; nieces, Karema, Gloria and Lynda; nephews, Ricky and Nathanial; God sons, Jessie Jr. and Moises, and an extensive extended family. He worked most of his career as a successful security guard at Universal Studios Hollywood – his home away from home.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 11 am at Gates, Kingsley & Gates Praiswater Mortuary: 6909 Canoga Ave, Canoga Park, CA 91303. This is a cremation, so there will be no internment.
