Carole Patricia Kramers of New York City passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at 89 years of age. Daughter of the late Anne Feinberg Knigin and Joseph Knigin. Beloved mother of Rebecca Pechenik Elovic and Anthony Mark Pechenik. Cherished grandmother of Ariella Elovic, Elisha Elovic, Alexandra Elovic, and Jonah Pechenik. Sister of Melvyn Knigin.
Carole was a spitfire. Often described as a force of nature, her five-foot frame topped with a fedora, a striking sweater emblazoned with black and diamond sparkle stripes with matching leggings and funky leather shoes would turn heads when she walked into a room. Her charming demeanor, quick thinking creative mind would captivate anyone walking by her willing to converse. In her 80’s she was always up not only on the latest fashion but also the newest technologies. She was not going to be left behind. The daughter of first-generation parents from Jewish Ukrainian heritage, she entered this world on October 28,1936, determined to light it on fire. She could have been an Elizabeth Taylor look alike dressing to the nines when she was in her twenties, matching shoes, pocketbook in tow, working for an ad agency on fifth avenue. Her ambition to be everything she could didn’t stop there. Later on she sold insurance, Xerox equipment and finally landed as a stockbroker/financial planner in a time when most women were staying home with the kids. She never did things halfway. In her career, she excelled and was always a top performer.
In her personal life, she lived large. Multiple husbands accompanied by multiple lives and enriching experiences. Whether she was going to New York for business, skiing in Switzerland, or riding a bike down a hill in Hawaii, she embraced life and love.
When it came to family, everyone mattered no matter what the relation. She welcomed everyone with open arms. Was the first to offer help to anyone in need. A devoted mother and grandmother, confidant, financial advisor, and sympathetic ear, she stayed involved and informed about everyone’s lives. Her superpower was being an amazing grandmother to her four grandchildren. She was on the floor banging pots and pans, covered in drawings all over her legs when she let her granddaughters express themselves. As her grandchildren grew, she hosted Hanukkah parties, took them and their friends for impromptu dinners, ballets, symphonies, art museums and Broadway shows. She was always present at Birthdays and Holidays. She promoted free thinking and intelligence in everyone. And she was a mean scrabble player, outsmarting us this past thanksgiving with a 60-point word. She was a role model for the power of female ability, confidence, steadfastness, intelligence, creativity, and strength.
It is very difficult to imagine a world without Grandma Bee walking into a room with her signature gold bee necklace hanging on her neck, her pile of New York Times clippings curated for every member of the family: cooking for Alex and Jonah, gardening for Becky, art for Ariella and Crosswords for Elisha. We can’t imagine a family gathering without her engaging smile, quick wit and challenging political conversations. Even though she may not physically be with us anymore, her spirit and voice will be with all of us for the rest of our lives.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Wednesday, January 7th , 2026 at 2 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton, Massachusetts. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon.
